San Francisco Fashion Week

Who knew we'd be a part of San Francisco Fashion Week?! Thanks to lifestyle/fashion/food/travel/DIY blogger, Kelly from A Side of Sweet, we were able to live vicariously through her adventures throughout the week as she jumped from event to event and hosted the Fashion Bloggers Connect panel. Kelly and I met this fall at Re:Make by Brit+Co - besides being extremely down-to-earth and keep an beautiful blog, she is also a pediatrician here in San Francisco! And she can make gorgeous chocolate cupcakes.

"77% of adults feel like they've lost their creativity."

Taking a moment to share this video. This is the first year that I've had the opportunity to invest in my own creativity. Every morning I have to push myself because trying to make a career out of my creativity often feels uncertain and risky. With much encouragement from my family and friends, I've gained the courage to put my work out there, start my own small business, build a website all on my own, and make lots of mistakes - only to get back up, learn from them, and continue moving forward.

Re:Make by Brit+Co

Batsu/Maru was invited to participate in Re:Make by Brit+Co, a "Conference + Festival that marries the technology and lifestyle communities, gathering key players who impact a growing maker marketplace." This turned out to be an incredible opportunity for us to meet other makers and a wonderful crowd that was interested not only in the products but also the craft.

Weekend at Renegade SF

We had a great weekend meeting new friends at the Renegade Craft Fair! This was our first time at Renegade and can't wait to be back for another show! I have to give a big shout out to my dear friend (and former roommate of 6+ years), Grace, who helped me out for the entire weekend. And brought me snacks and those delicious garlic fries (anyone else have those?)! Two very full days later, I am feeling re-inspired and ready for more!

Design Week!

It's Design Week in San Francisco - which means cool design folks open up their doors and let us have a peek inside their world! Got to check out an amazing talk by designer/consultant/empathy researcher/writer, Indi Young, on practical empathy. Wow - blown away. I will be doing more reading on her ideas (sorry, no picture).
